Photographer, NY.

Christaan Felber graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in advertising photography. He currently works as a freelance photographer, shooting regularly for The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker. Christaan is the artist behind the book “Boxeo Clasico,” ranked by American Photo Magazine as one of the year’s best photography books in Fine Art. Literary critic and editor Joyce Carol Oates wrote the book’s foreword.

One of Christaan’s life goals was to have his work appear on the cover of The NYTM, a feat he has accomplished thrice this year. He admires photographers Tyrone Lebon, Bob Richardson and Melodie McDaniel. Grunge, punk, rock and street styles inspire him.

In his free time, Christaan is typically working on his vintage motorcycle and enjoys spending time playing music – drums, bass and guitar. His must-have item is a Yashica T4 film camera. .

“Photography is learning how to see the world in your own unique way and having the ability to capture that vision,” says Christaan. At the age of 15 he knew he wanted to become a photographer. His main goal is to tell stories and document them.

The Fancy Archive is honored to work with the extremely talented Christaan Felber. Stay tuned, he is currently working on his next big project: “Winter Surfers.”
