Theresa Balderas graduated with a major in photography from LaSalle College International in Monterrey. In order to pursue her dream, she moved to New York City, where she got a certificate in documentary photography and photojournalism by The International Center of Photography.

In 2012 the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin published her work, called “The NY book project,” and the International Center of Photography published another of her pieces, called “Shift Vol. 7 Order Disorder.”

Theresa has worked hard to get to where she is today (no se usa decir que alguien trabajo mucho para volverse talentoso – el talento se tiene). Her work has been exhibited all over the world. The Rita K. Hillman Gallery in New York exhibited “My Truth, Your Truth” and the 2013 Pingyao Photo Festival presented “Elements of Embrace.” Her work has also been shown at the San Pedro Alliance Française and LaSalle College International.

But that’s not all. Her work has recently appeared in different magazines like The Upcoming, Vogue Mexico, Elle Mexico and Look.

Photography has been part of Theresa’s life since she was 17 years old. As a photographer, her main purpose is to produce something that will remain – something of lasting value. She admires photographer Alex Prager and is inspired by simplicity, storytelling and emotions, which she said are basic elements in her work.

The must-have item inside her kit is a 50mm lens and for her, the interpretation of her work is her art form.

“Everything in the world can be described as an art form,” she said. “Fashion photography, war photography – it doesn’t matter. It all depends on the artist’s point of view. How sensitive and close the artist is to the subject, that’s when the magic happens; when an artist can transform any topic into an art form.”

It’s an honor to have Theresa Balderas on our team. She has an exceptional gift for capturing the perfect angle and telling stories through her work. She just founded Studiobyt, the commercial wing of Theresa Balderas Photography. So stay tuned and check her work at
