New gossip inside your industry The launching party from i-D México in August
Monse Castera, editor-in-chief at i-D Mexico, told us her biggest passion is that through her job, she’s able to promote the great fantasies and creations of new talents. “What I love about editorial is that through incredible images done by an amazing team of creative minds we wake up a desire of possessing something beautiful,” she said.
Monse was the editorial coordinator at 192 Magazine and creator of Tomo, Excelsior newspaper’s art, architecture and design supplement. She has also collaborated at Animal magazine and Codigo magazine. She’s currently in charge of i-D Magazine’s online project in Mexico and Latin America.
A woman that inspires Monse is one who has a particular taste, one who chooses her outfit and defines her style based on her personality and her characteristics. For her, choosing an outfit comes in an organic way. “I enjoy getting a piece or an object that has a creative work behind,” she said. “I like being comfortable and surrounding myself with beautiful things.”
What she enjoys the most is brainstorming and producing fashion editorials and writing about design, art and trends. She always goes to the movies on Sundays, dancing is a routine, she’s a music lover and spending some quiet time on a hammock is her guilty pleasure.
Her biggest achievement is being able to do what she loves the most. And what really drives her is meeting new talents and supporting their careers. The oldest piece inside her closet is a flamenco skirt and the next thing she plans to add are a pair of RIP shorts, the store from Rosa Pistola.
Art Nouveau, Acne Paper issues, youth, the Austrian expressionism, the Bauhaus and David Bowie inspire her. Monse is an eternal film lover, but when she experienced the process of creating content, she decided to start her path in the editorial field. “I love editing, I believe it’s finding a creative way of transmitting to the world the power of all those different talents and their work,” she said. Her purpose as an editor is to create beautiful images with a strong concept behind. She loves to study and research about new talents, new trends, promote them and help them get on a path to success. Mostly, she likes to analyze the waves that illustrate the industry and write about them.
Because i-D Magazine is one of our top editorials, The Fancy Archive is happy to introduce it’s new Editor-in–Chief, Monse Castera. We know she’ll take us to amazing places through her storytelling.
