“Proyecto Oaxaca” is the capsule collection of the Spring-Summer 2018 season of designer LORENA SARAVIA.

LORENA SARAVIA launches de capsule “Proyecto Oaxaca” alongside THE FANCY ARCHIVE. This launch will
take place at the Masaryk store (between Tennyson and Eugenio Sue) in Polanco at 8 pm of october 19.

The Mexican brand is uniting with THE FANCY ARCHIVE to reactivate the use of silk and cotton textiles
produced in Oaxaca, especially in the San Pedro Cajonos community – Villa Alta located in the South West of
the region. These ten communities are dedicated to silk, “rebozo”, and scarf production in looms.
The entire silk production process gets the whole community involved. It starts with the mulberry culture,
followed by caterpillar breeding and the harvest of the cocoons, which are later boiled in order to be
softened so the silk thread can be extracted. The final product, dyed with natural colorants, is the result of a very hard ten day process during which 250 grams of thread are extracted.

LORENA SARAVIA’S capsule “Proyecto Oaxaca” is creating an unprecedented synergy with TFA by making the
use of artisanal silk as raw material along with cotton from the same region in order to create original pieces for the contemporary woman. The collection is made up of ten looks that include blouses, pants, dresses, and sweatshirts tailored by communities from San Pedro Cajonos in Oaxaca. Every piece is infused with the brand’s DNA. The entire income from the sales of this project will be donated through Fundación Gilberto to the reconstruction of affected areas by the earthquakes that took place in September in Oaxaca.

All of the invited photographers to the launch of the collection will also donate 100% of the sale of their pictures to the same cause.

All the money collected from this project will contribute to rebuild #Mexicomylove.
